Team Brasil will parade at the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with shoes signed by Havaianas. The Brazilian Olympic Committee has just signed a contract with the brand, which, in addition to supporting the Brazilian delegation, will become part of the COB sponsor board as an official supporter until the end of 2021.
“It is with great pride that we have a brand like Havaianas in our list of sponsors. The Opening Ceremony is the calling card of the delegation at the Games and there is nothing more authentic and Brazilian than putting on Havaianas, ”says Olympic judo champion and COB general director, Rogério Sampaio.
“The values of Time Brasil, creativity, diversity and the desire to bring the best of Brazil to the world connect us directly with Havaianas”, adds Manoela Penna, COB's Director of Communication and Marketing. “The relationship with Havaianas is already innovative, as it is the first time that the feet of the opening parade are commercialized. This shows the potential that lies ahead! ”, says the executive.
Havaianas will be part of the Time Brasil parade uniform, which will be signed by the Rio de Janeiro brand Wöllner, with one of the most famous models of the brand, Havaianas Top Brasil Logo. The brand will also launch a licensed COB collection that will be sold during the 2021 Games. Under the contract, Havaianas will be entitled to activation fees in the bases of Time Brasil in Japan, as well as institutional deliveries of COB/Time Brasil.
“Our Havaianas brand has a strong emotional connection with people. We have been in the life of Brazilians for almost 60 years and today we are known all over the world for representing joy, freedom and the spirit of the summer. Walking with Team Brasil at the opening fills us with pride, ”says Roberto Funari, CEO of Alpargatas, the company that owns Havaianas.
In addition to Havaianas, Time Brasil has the following sponsors in the 2017-2020 cycle: Estácio, Peak, Aliansce Sonae, Travel Ace, Ajinomoto, BRW, Max Recovery, and Wöllner. Especially for the Tokyo 2020 Games, COB also signed a strategic partnership with Maurício de Sousa Produções and a specific sponsorship for actions in Japan with the Meiji brand (Japanese chocolate company).
