The Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) will have an official streaming channel, the Brazilian Olympic Channel. In partnership with TV NSports, COB will offer the Brazilian Olympic Confederations, free of charge, the live broadcast of at least one annual event on its calendar, as well as the possibility of acquiring international competition rights. In addition, the Channel will bring special reports and videos about the sports and their athletes.
“The creation of the platform is part of the strategic planning for the 2021-24 Cycle. This is the commitment of COB, promoting greater visibility and strengthening the Olympic Movement in Brazil”, says COB's President Paulo Wanderley.
Scheduled for launch in December, the channel has its own domain - canalolimpicodobrasil.com.br - and is a multiplatform, offering access via desktop, mobile, smartv and web app. The Brazilian Olympic Channel will have individual channels categorized by confederation and type of content, in addition to showing videos that had already been produced by COB and that are currently available on YouTube by Time Brasil.
In the future, the Channel will also be able to count on sponsorship and advertising in its broadcasts, as well as the sale of international rights, pay-per-view events, and crowdfunding videos.
“The Olympic Channel in Brazil will allow Brazilian sport to expand its reach with different audiences, strengthening its image and allowing the capture of new revenues for the Confederations”, concludes Manoela Penna, COB's Director of Communication and Marketing.
“Since its foundation, the mission of TV NSports has always been to increase the visibility of national sport and now, as COB's partners, we will be able to tell the inspiring stories of our athletes together, bringing together the best content of all Olympic sports in one channel and giving an important step in the democratization of sports broadcasts!”, concludes Guilherme Figueiredo, Executive Director of TV NSports.
