The Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), following the modernization of its internal structure, is implementing the area of ??Education and Doping Prevention in its staff. Doctor Christian Trajano, former technical director of the Brazilian Doping Control Authority (ABCD), was hired to lead the process of drafting and implementing the Doping Prevention and Education Program in Brazilian Olympic sport, in support of the actions of the World Agency. Anti-Doping (WADA) and ABCD.
COB's Education and Doping Prevention area will work on several fronts to achieve its objectives, such as the creation of a mobile learning application, a distance learning platform (ODL), and face-to-face actions at the Time Brasil Training, with lectures and education seminars that are part of the missions organized by COB and for the internal public. “We will also integrate doping prevention and education actions into the training courses for coaches at the Brazilian Olympic Institute, COB's education arm. Secondly, we will use the Transforma, COB's Olympic Values ??Promotion Program, to make anti-doping education reach younger generations, ”said Christian Trajano. “The protection of sportsmanship and Olympic values ??is the driving force behind this COB initiative, and it aligns with the entity's values: meritocracy, transparency and austerity,” added COB's Doping Prevention and Education manager.
Actions in the new area reinforce COB's compliance with the WADA World Anti-Doping Code. “The COB has always done a warning job about the dangers of using banned substances with our Olympic athletes. But as concern about this topic has increased in recent years, COB has understood the importance of hiring an expert on the subject to further deepen this work of education and prevention, developing mechanisms to increase the knowledge of our athletes in this area, ”he said. COB CEO Rogério Sampaio, Judo Gold Medalist at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. “In addition to fairness and competitive fair play, COB understands clean sport as synonymous with health,” added Rogério Sampaio.
The COB, as a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code, will develop education and prevention actions focused on the Olympic movement. “It is important to point out that ABCD is the one who determines and conducts doping control tests in the country, as well as managing the results of a positive analysis and referral to the Anti-Doping Court, these actions are unique to ABCD,” said Christian Trajano. .
