The president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), Paulo Wanderley, and the Secretary of Sports and Recreation of the Federal District, Leandro Cruz, signed a letter of intent this Saturday, so that Brasilia hosts a regional and national stage of the 2020 Youth School Games. The commitment was signed during the first edition of the Brazilian Olympic Congress in São Paulo.
"We pay special attention to school sports. Brasília is a city that is prepared to receive any type of event and sports activity. Promoting this act well in advance is fundamental, as we are confident that we will continue to organize a quality event, "said Paulo Wanderley.
Also celebrating the act was Leandro Cruz, who reinforced the importance of planning for the success of the national sport.
"This is a historic moment, especially for youth who love sports. We are organizing ourselves with the necessary advance, which is a mark of Paulo Wanderley management and that we seek to implement in the Secretariat of Sports and Leisure of the Federal District. For the first time in history, a city will house the School Youth Games and the Brazilian University Games. "
After signing the letter of intent, the definitive choice of Brasília as venue for the School Games still depends on the approval of the COB's technical staff, responsible for defining the host cities of the event annually.
