The Anti-Doping Education and Prevention Department of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) carried out an innovative action during the last edition of the Brazilian Coaches Academy, on May 8, at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park in Rio de Janeiro.
In an event to about 70 coaches of the 3 on 3 Basketball, Weightlifting and Beach Volleyball, an educational activity has demonstrated playfully, the Prohibited List of the World Anti-Doping Code. The action was to create a parallel between the Classes of the Prohibited List and jelly candies.
Our goal was to "translate" the Prohibited List in a playful way, using candies with shapes that could refer to the Classes of Substances of the World Anti-Doping Agency - WADA's list. Everyone will recall that earthworm candies were the example for Class S0, of unapproved substances; that the green ones refer to Cannabinoids, on Class S8, and so on, class by class; says Christian Trajano, Anti-Doping Education Manager.
The event had the former Olympic Gymnasts Luisa Parente, from the Brazilian Anti-Doping Court, which presented the steps of the results management process and the sanctions by the World Anti-Doping Code. Henrique Marcelo, Director of the Brazilian Doping Control Lab and José Kawazoe Lazzolli, President of the Pan-American Confederation of Sports Medicine, shared the day dedicated entirely to Anti-Doping Education.
