The first governing body of the sport in Brazil was the Brazilian Rugby Union, founded in 1963 and replaced by the Brazilian Rugby Association in 1972. In 2010, the Brazilian Rugby Confederation was born after the reintroduction of Rugby in the Olympic Games.
