The Brazil Olympic Committee (COB) is a non-governmental organization, affiliated to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), that works in the technical, administrative and political management of the national sport. COB´s mission is developing and representing with excellence the high performance sport of Brazil, for the improvement of Team Brazil sports results, raising the maturity of the management of both COB and the National Olympic Sports Federations and strenghtening the Brazilian Olympic Sport image. COB must also protect and promote the Olympic Values within the national territory.
Throughout its 105 years of existence (it was founded on June 8, 1914), COB has already led Brazil to the achievement of 129 medals (30 Gold, 36 Silver and 63 Bronze medals) at Olympic Games and 37 medals at Youth Olympic Games (11 Gold, 15 Silver and 11 Bronze medals).
COB´s main funds resource for the accomplisment of its strategic goals comes from Federal Law 13.756/2018, which designates a percentage of the Federal Lotteries revenue to sport. The funds are managed in accordance with the concepts of the public management and transparency, having its utilization audited by the Federal Court of Accounts – Brazil (TCU).
